Export Data to UNIX Box from Windows DOS Script

Another short and sweet one today. If you have UNIX box for your Essbase server but have automation on a Windows server, how can you write the MaxL so that it automates/runs from Windows but exports to the UNIX box? Please see below…

I write my scripts in variable format for both DOS and MaxL. Below, I have what I use for MaxL. Note that it doesn’t look differente than what you might write for a Windows box. The key line is the “export database” line.

In the DOS file, the UNIX path is in the DataPath variable line.

Make sure that the file slashes are going opposite of Windows and no double slashes are needed. As I want the date to be a variable pulled from the system for the current date, I have included a DOS variable into the  name…and it works perfectly!
